FOUNDER / PRESIDENT / PRODUCER
Lawson White is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, and the founder and President of Good Child Music, a record label, publishing, and production company based in Brooklyn, NY.
Lawson’s production work and recording studio are central to the thriving new music community in New York City, and Lawson has produced many of the records that define the New York new music scene. He has worked with artists such as Gil Scott-Heron, Santigold, Chromeo, A-Trak, MNDR, Balún, Shakira, Oh Land, Magic Wands, Ben Folds, Andrew Wyatt, Tony Trischka, David Lang, John Zorn, Zeena Parkins, Kim Gordon (Sonic Youth), So Percussion, Matmos, Alarm Will Sound, International Contemporary Ensemble, ACME, NOW Ensemble and many others. His compositions can be heard in films and on TV commercials, and on many of the records of the artists with whom he collaborates.
Lawson is originally from Nashville, TN. His studio is currently based in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. He has a BM in Music Performance and the Performer's Certificate from the Eastman School of Music, and an MM in Music Performance from Yale University.
Lawson uses Pearl Drums / Adams Percussion, Zildjian Cymbals, Vic Firth Sticks, Ableton Live, & Eventide effects.
Label manager / artist
Russell Howard is a songwriter, guitarist, recording artist, and co-founder of Good Child's label arm. Russell's experience as a signed/unsigned touring artist amidst the turbulence of the music business in the late 00's guides the label's philosophy of a focused team working a small, exceptional roster. His new project The Auxiliary will debut on Good Child Music in 2017.
Russell is originally from Dallas TX, but splits time between Brooklyn and his home in Charlotte NC. He studied composition under Jennifer Stasack at Davidson College where he earned a BA in History.
Before joining the GCM team, Alessandra worked for four years as a recording engineer at the Fred Plaut Recording Studio at the Yale School of Music. There, she trained under her mentor, chief engineer Gene Kimball, in classical recording at YSM’s Sprague Hall.
Alessandra is originally from Brooklyn, NY. She has a BA in American Studies with an Audio concentration from Yale University.
